As Assistant to the CEO (Project Development), Karen liaises with all Cancer Knowledge Network (CKN) editors and writers and is responsible for managing the website and its editorial content.
She coordinates all CKN special projects from the proposal stage through project management to project completion, handling all ongoing correspondence with team members.
Some of the projects Karen has been involved in developing are: #KidsCancerPain, The CKN Oncofertility Referral Network, The CKN Oncofertility Database, Young Adults Fighting Cancer, and The Match Study. Karen is responsible for researching current issues about cancer and cancer survivorship and finding key experts to write papers for publication on CKN. These topical issues often lead to the development of a series of papers with submissions from numerous writers which are published on CKN and disseminated over social media.
Karen’s ability to develop strong relationships with key players in the global cancer community has been a fundamental component to the success of CKN to date. She engages with the greater cancer community through managing the CKN social media profiles, and has helped establish CKN as a top engager in the Twitter and Facebook communities, reaching 78,000 and 11,000 people respectively, on an average monthly basis. This high engagement rate has translated into average website page views of over 5000 per month.
