Brian Walters, PhD, Gambro Healthcare Patient Services, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, reported on the use of the SF-36 health-related quality-of-life questionnaire in 3178 chronic dialysis patients. He found that clinical depression is least prevalent in home hemodialysis followed by CAPD, center hemodialysis, and CCPD. These results were highly significant. Clinical depression has a major role in therapy-related quality of life.
